BlueLounge Refresh Multi-Device Charging Station Review

Nowadays, most households have multiple cell phones and smartphones, an iPod Touch or two, and other small gadgets such as Nintendos. Of course, each gadget requires its own charging cable to recharge. All of those cables can add up. They look messy, take up room, and are difficult to keep organized. Wouldn't it be nice to tame your cable collection? The BlueLounge Refresh charging station can do just that. Read on for my review!

The Refresh has a clean, modern aesthetic. It is composed of two parts: a rubberized black lid and a glossy white tray. My Refresh is white, but it also comes in black or pink.

The lid has four built-in magnets that snap to the tray, making it easy to access the cables in the tray. The bottom tray holds two iPhone/iPod cables, a micro USB, and mini USB cable, and two USB sockets. These can be used with an extra connector, such as the Samsung A connector I used to charge my phone (see photo below).

If your device doesn't use a typical connector or you have two or more devices that take the same kind of connector, you can use your own cable or purchase an extra connector for about $6.

How are the cables laying on the bottom of the tray accessible? There is a small space in between the lid and tray to bring the needed cables through to the outside. The unused cables stay out of sight in the bottom of the tray. Pretty nifty, huh?

Of course, all of the Refresh’s style and features would be all for naught if it didn't function well. Fortunately, it works perfectly. I charged two cell phones simultaneously in a normal period of time. It can charge up to three devices at once, however.

All in all, the Refresh is a practical, attractive charging station. At $67, I feel that it is a bit on the pricey side.  I would expect a just a bit more premium feel in the case material. However, I have no qualms with the Refresh.
